Trend alert: Fluidity

FW 21/22 - Most brands are far away from genderless fashion, but gender-fluid style is a future trend to keep an eye on. We are moving away from the idea that clothing and accessories themselves are inherently gendered, but rather accepting that societal norms have determined that certain items are for certain people. Gen Z is deciding that these norms are no longer relevant, and older generations are slowly, but surely agreeing.

So let’s part from the idea that wearing a suit as a woman is ‘power dressing’. Let’s understand that a suit is a garment that can be worn by all genders, who should all be treated as equal. So wear that long, dangly earring, sir. It suits you. These next MMBSY brands embody the trend for FW21/22.

Lee Cooper

Lee Cooper is Europe’s oldest denim brand. English by origin, but Belgian ever since a Belgian family took over its license ten years ago. Since then the collection is designed in and produced for Belgium. And how the brand has changed! Although denim has never been the most sustainable fabric, Lee Cooper Belgium has been able to reduce the amount of water it takes to produce one pair of jeans from 100L down to just 2L. Over 70% of the Lee Cooper FW21 jeans are now ‘green’.

Speaking of color: the collection includes shades such as burgundy, pastel pink and even bright orange accents. The upcoming season will be comfy, but chic. The FW21 trends – from checks to varsity-inspired apparel – are well represented in both men and women’s collections. The brand also replied to the need for quality denim for kids. Because quality jeans are not just for grownups.

Lore Van Keer

Lore Van Keer launches TIDE, a collection of wearable movements inspired by the natural motion, pure lines, patterns and structures of water at the edge of the shore. Each ocean wave creates shapes of instinctive perfection. Never repeated, made without expectation. Full of both intent and surrender. The designs of this collection surrender to the pull of a similar fascination for balanced patterns, interpreted structures and an instinctive trust that exploring boundaries is in itself endlessly worthwhile. Each TIDE design gravitates towards its own distinct form of intentional imperfection.

The TIDE collection will be available in silver and gold-plated silver. The white stone in the collection is a white semi-precious moonstone, implicitly referring to nature. For all people, for all genders, for all generations.

SUN68

The SUN68 FW21 men’s collection was created for the everyday life, with essential garments for daily use that are perfectly suitable for layering. This season, SUN68 was inspired by the sports and racing world, which results in a collection of comfortable and informal leisurewear. Whether working from home or working at the office, each look is perfect for smart working. The neo-preppy trend is also reflected in the collection, maintaining the classic aesthetic of preppy style, yet re-imagined in a contemporary state of mind. Think classic tweed patterns, strong, brightly colored knits that refresh a more traditional style and classic English fabrics repurposed in jersey fabric.
