Small changes, big gestures

World Environment Day 2022

For this year’s World Environment Day, world leaders have agreed on the theme “Only The Earth” because we have only one Earth. Our planet is making sacrifices for us, now it’s time to return the favor before it is too late. Here are some tips on how to make changes in your daily life.

In the universe there are billions of galaxies, in our galaxy there are billions of planets, but there is Only One Earth.

River Cleanup

Less produced, more reused

Plastic has a major impact on the environment because it takes years to decompose. Besides, the production process releases toxic substances that pollute the air. The best way to stop this unnecessary plastic production is to buy reusable products like reusable water bottles, lunch boxes, straws, food huggers or make-up erasers.

Volunteer at clean-ups

In today’s busy lives it is hard to make time for things that matter. We often have a lot on our minds and don’t find time to volunteer. However, the benefits or volunteering are enormous. You make new friends, contribute to the community and learn new skills and technologies. It doesn’t have to be a weekly event, but cleaning a river once in a while can make a big difference. At River Cleanup, there are three main goals: cleaning rivers, educating students on the issue or trash in nature and creating cross-border solutions with partners.

Shop wisely

In today’s society we buy and throw away without giving it a second thought. Our advice is to shop wisely and look for sustainable and ecological collections. Those collections are often made with low emissions or recycled clothing. DbyD’s sunglasses have sustainable and innovative materials like bio acetate. This makes the glasses biodegradable and recyclable. The GUESS Eco collection for example is recycled, organic and made with innovative materials. The Flower Mountain for Naturino collection and Freedom Moses shoes are vegan friendly and cruelty free! JBC’s I AM Collection allows customers to trace where the clothes were made. Through their I AM Collection, JBC highlights their transparency and traceability.

At the beginning of June La Redoute will launch a capsule collection. It's a capsule that was created by La Redoute employees, using materials harvested from the oceans. It is a transversal collection (La Redoute Collections & La Redoute Intérieurs) for the whole family. The profits are donated to Project Rescue Oceans. Below you can already find a preview of the capsule collection.

Say no to chemicals

Lots of beauty products contain harmful chemicals, it is therefore important to make a safe choice in beauty products. Some brands already have collections based on natural ingredients. For example, the perfumes of Roger&Gallet contain over 90% natural ingredients. No dyes, acids or silicones, but perfume based on natural extracts. Besides, Ganō Care is a pioneer in Cannabis Sativa L. They combine their expertise in the origin, extraction and certification of hemp in no-nonsense plant-based products for emotional and physical balance. Beauty products without harming chemicals are good for health and planet.

Cycle more, drive less

When you go to work, the supermarket or the city, try to go by bike instead of taking the easy road by car. This way, you don’t use gas which results in less air pollution. Besides, it’s good for your own health as well. We could all use some more exercise. With the clothes and accessories from A.S.Adventure, your bike rides will get more comfortable. Got kids to take on the road with you? No problem with the ZENO bike from Cybex.
