International Women's Day initiatives

08.03.21 | International Women's Day

On March 8th we celebrate being a woman. We're grateful for the rights we have, which generations of women have fought for. But we are still not being treated equally in many parts of the world. So the fight is far from over yet. These next fashion brands shed an extra light on the importance of women in honour of International Women's Day.

Lore Van Keer's manifesto

Belgian jewelry designer Lore Van Keer wrote a manifesto in honour of the brand's 10th anniversary. In the refreshingly honest manifesto Lore talks about ten years of entrepreneurship & personal evolution, all while being a female entrepreneur, a mother and a designer. Appreciating the crooked lines in life, Lore firmly believes that you have to look back at what the past has taught you before you can fully enter the future. We've lined up a few of the most meaningful quotes:

"Literally everybody said I was crazy. I did it anyway. I haven’t regretted it for a second. Sometimes, you just have to take the leap and see where it takes you."
- Take the leap

"After ten years, I can honestly say I no longer feel like I’m playing the role of a businesswoman, but I became that businesswoman. In hindsight, I think I’m actually proudest of the things I accomplished without me having much talent for them. Life’s funny that way."
- Trust the process

JBC - Supports female entrepreneurs with their 3rd Local Market

In honor of International Women’s Day, the third Local Market of JBC focuses on must-haves for women, created by female entrepreneurs.
The unique products are available in all JBC shops and on jbc.be.

"Many of our customers are women who juggle family, work and leisure every day. We don't just help them find the right outfits to switch effortlessly between those roles. We also help them with tips, inspiration and gifts to bring structure or a moment of me-time. JBC is an organisation where women are given every opportunity, so it was a pleasure to work with other brands where that culture also prevails" - Ann Claes, Chief Buying Officer of JBC

La Redoute - No to violence against women

The health crisis has led to a significant increase in violence against women in 2020. La Redoute has always been committed to women through its positioning. Today, they have decided to actively support the cause by funding a social project related to women and by raising awareness among their employees and customers.

From the 8th of March to december 31th 2021 La Redoute will be selling a fabric totebag, which is made in France. 100% of the profit will be donated to the Solidarité Femmes Association. The association runs a shelter for women who have become a victim of domestic violence. They also offer psychological, socio-educational and legal assistance. La Redoute will make sure they'll be able to donate at least 5.000 euros to the charity.

The project also aims to fund holidays for women with or without children, who need to start over after suffering domestic violence. At least thirty women (with kids) will be able to go on a vacation.
