International Day Against Breast Cancer - October 19th

Initiatives by Unisa and Anita

October 19th is the International Day against breast cancer. Stories of those affected by the awful disease hit close to home, but unfortunately, there are also many misconceptions about the cancer and its course. That is why early detection is essential to prognosis and the overall survival rate. The MMBSY brands below are working towards the ultimate goal: to live in a breast cancer-free world.

PiNKtober with Anita

Anita declared October to be PiNKtober, to focus on breast cancer awareness. The brand launches a look-touch-feel campaign, in which they want to activate women to check their breasts. Because the earlier the disease is detected, the higher the chance of survival.

  1. Look - Start by visually inspecting your breast in the mirror and look for visual changes
  2. Touch - Then begin with the tactile screening of each breast and watch out for changes
  3. Feel - Check each area of your breast carefully right up into the armpit. Get tips for self-examination from your gynaecologist

In addition, the brand will continue to focus on the Anita care line, tailored to the individual needs of women following breast reconstruction surgery. For the Anita care collection, Anita works together with the organization 'Discovering Hands'. This organization trains blind and visually impaired women to become medical tactile examiners (MTEs). Thanks to their visual handicap, they not only detect 30% more small changes in breast tissue than doctors, but they also select the best fabrics and materials for prosthetic bras.

Unisa's solidarity purse

At Unisa, women are the engine that drives the brand every day, urging it to move forward and evolve. That is why Unisa would like to support, whoever suffers or has suffered in some way, from breast cancer. With a small gesture, Unisa is hoping to be of great help to many people. From October 16h to 25th, the brand sells a limited edition pink leather solidarity purse available in three hues, which you can buy online or in a Unisa store for €5. All proceeds go to the fight against breast cancer.
