Actions that Make a Difference: Brands that Care for Tomorrow

Celebrating World Sustainability Day (October 30)

Every last Wednesday of October, we celebrate World Sustainability Day. This global initiative has only one goal: raising awareness about sustainability & emphasizing the importance of protecting our planet for future generations. The best part? Small actions can make a big impact. This World Sustainability Day, we’re putting a spotlight on brands making a difference by rethinking how we consume. While no single initiative will solve all the problems, it’s a powerful reminder of what we can do to make a (small) difference, starting today.

Refreshingly responsible

Raise your glass to Double Dutch! A brand that’s as cool as it is kind to the planet. Not only do they bring refreshing flavors to your glass, but they are also refreshingly responsible. Recently, Double Dutch became B-Corp Certified, with an impressive score of 86.9 (far above the median of 50.9), a distinction unmatched by any other major mixer brand & showcasing their commitment to responsible business practices.

Committed to reducing their environmental impact, Double Dutch is a carbon-neutral brand, they have reduced plastic use by 30%, and their bottles are made from 20% recycled glass. They’ve also introduced their beverage range in 100% infinitely recyclable aluminum cans, which have a lower carbon footprint than glass. Beyond environmental efforts, the brand is dedicated to making a positive social impact, with a strong focus on inclusivity.

Repair or rent

For years, A.S.Adventure has placed great importance on ESG principles. As a Belgian retailer, they find it crucial to drive positive societal change. That's why A.S.Adventure has long been committed to circular entrepreneurship.

Recently, A.S.Adventure took it a step further by opening their Care & Repair Center in Hoboken, a repair and maintenance workshop of over 2000 m². This center is a first in Belgian retail and brings together all its circular services, including shoe repair and maintenance, textile repair, ski equipment maintenance, and a laundry service.

With this approach, A.S.Adventure offers a solution to the challenges of overconsumption and waste production. By repairing products instead of discarding them, they help reduce waste and extend the life of valuable items, contributing to the circular economy.

Circular style

Fashion is evolving, and so are the ways we think about wearing and caring for our clothes. Circular fashion is at the heart of this shift - offering smarter, more thoughtful ways to enjoy what we wear. Want to learn more? Read all about it, from upcycled coats by Mayerline, circular denim by Lee Cooper and second-hand items by JBC and A.S.Adventure: Circular Chic: Belgian Brands Embracing Circular Fashion.

While these efforts may seem small, taking action, even in small ways, is better than doing nothing at all. We understand that no single initiative can solve the immense challenges our planet faces, but every step counts. World Sustainability Day serves as a reminder to reflect on these positive contributions and continue finding ways to make a difference, one mindful choice at a time.
