30 years of Nevermind
Smells like the time to recreate that '91 grunge look
September 24th marks the 30th anniversary of Nirvana's second studio album, one of the most influential records of all time. Let's look back to the sound of a generation, and recreate the look that went with it.
"Kurt Cobain voiced the alienation of a marginalised youth who couldn’t care less about the old rules. But Nevermind was a subversive assault upon the rock elite from within: a big guitar sound without the big-dick attitude.
For many of us back in 1991, it felt as if the planet tilted slightly further on its axis when Smells Like Teen Spirit — the lead single from Nirvana’s Nevermind album — began to dominate the airwaves. The song’s compelling fusion of blast furnace punk, whimsical melody and inscrutable lyrics was unlike anything else commercial radio had embraced up to that point." - The Conversation
