Cottage Core
Connecting with the outdoors and simpler times

The Cottage Core movement's goal is to celebrate a nostalgic, cottage, or farm style vibe around the house and its aesthetic is one that would not have looked out of place at your grandparents home or a 'Little House on the Prairie' rerun.
The hashtag #cottagecore has taken over social media with 4.5 billion views on TikTok and over 1 million posts on Instagram this year. Most of us have spent 80 % of 2020 stuck inside our own home with the only perspective being our own backyard and the parks and woods surrounding us. It's no surprise that the trend is on the rise and will continue to do so in 2021.

Cottage core brings us back to the countryside, showing a sort of traditional, nostalgic cozy feeling around the home. The idea is to embrace a slower way of living by bringing in nature and by doing activities such as baking, gardening and crafting.

Elements of the past encourage us to reintegrate mindfulness in our modern lifestyle by taking a step back from tech driven days, social media and the hustle and bustle of it all. The final goal is to connect more with outdoor living and appreciate simpler times.
